TORONTO, November 1, 2010 – It has been a while since I attended the fashion shows put on by the Fashion Design Council of Canada…Robin Kay extended to me a VIP pass and it was quite exciting to see new fashions and a few people from the past.
Noreen Flanagan, the new editor-in-chief of Elle Canada, was there and also the new editor-in-chief of Fashion Magazine, Bernadette Morra. One evening across the aisle I saw Bonnie Brooks, the President of The Bay, enjoying one of the shows.
The designers that I was hoping to see, such as David Dixon (he showed in Montreal this season) and several other designers, showed a week earlier.
Here are just a few sketches of things I found to be interesting:

Pink Tartan loved colour and thank heavens someone did, her collection lit up the room. When she came out at the end she was happy and showed it as she blew a kiss to her husband, Joe, in the audience.

Drew and Michael Thomas had a very pulled together look -- from make-up to hair, the right music, and models who exuded a good zombie look with a definite fashion twist.

Baby Steinberg was unique. Everything she made was salvaged from the trash -- it was fun, amusing and very different. I think she should take the 'Baby' out of her name...we all thought it was going to be children's wear, and it sure wasn't.

Jeremy Laing is an artist. His clothing is so intricate, it is mind boggling...so amazing an artist, is he...bravo.

Denis Gagnon had the finale show on the Friday night, and everything was perfect -- from the hair and make up to the intriguing fringe of his fashions...what a winner.
