We arrived on Sunday, the first week-end of October. This is one of the best times to go to Paris because on the first Sunday of each month most of the museums are free. But I love it because each year the first Sunday of October is also the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe horse races at Longchamp, and if you are a woman wearing a fancy hat, you get in free.
So, Elle Koor and I had each made a special hat for the adventure, and along with Kennedy we went straight to the races. As we entered, people were taking pictures of us, and we were taking pictures of them. Next, we went to the Champagne bar and saluted ourselves with flutes of Champagne.
Elle Koor is pictured here in the blue hat she designed and made. Also included are pictures of beautiful women in fancy hats. My hat was a French beret on which I sewed felt flowers and jewels. I threw on my vintage Marilyn Brooks cape, a special magenta scarf, and we were off to the races. Kennedy helped us with our betting and I won 20 Euros on the Aga Khan's winning horse in the 5th race...great day.
