The first Sunday in October each year is the great horse race at Longchamps. The group all came to Paris with a hat to wear to the races. I brought my glue gun, some cock feathers, and french ribbon and made it in my room just before going to the race.

Any woman wearing a hat got in free to the 85th Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere at Hippodrome de Longchamp.

First thing we do is go to the area where they sell Moët and Chandon Champagne and buy some of those great bubbles to set the mood. It is a fun day and the English people sitting next to us were winning so they shared champagne with us and I let one of the men borrow my hat for good luck.
